Cala Gonone and Dorgali are served by the regional suburban bus network ARST. If you want to reach Cala Gonone, starting from one of the main ports or airports, you have to reach one of the traffic junctions where you can change bus – Nuoro ( it is to prefer because of its number of daily bus rides to and from Cala Gonone), Siniscola or Tortoli – and take another one to Cala Gonone.

Turn into the street that leads from the rear of the campsite of Cala Gonone to the mountain pass of Littu and the Beach of Cartoe. Then turn off and take the gravel path that leads along the mountainside.

Difficulty: easy – the first kilometre and some short gradients are rather demanding

This circular path starts from Cala Gonone and leads back there via Dorgali: the road that starts from the rear of the campsite climbs up the mountain ascending steeply. When you reach the mountain pass, follow the signpost on the right to the beaches of Cartoe. After a visit to the sandy beach, go back and turn right into an asphalt road. Along the way you will get to the hot springs, the church of San Giovanni (St. John) and the Grotta di San Giovanni (St.John’s Cave) and finally the Grotta di Ispinigoli (Cave of Ispinigoli).

After a visit to the cave, return to Dorgali driving along the national road SS125. The rural church of “Su babbu mannu” and the dolmen Montorra a little further on are on your way.

Leaving Dorgali take the ring road and then turn into the diversion that leads towards Cartoe. After having passed the holm oak wood, turn right into the road that leads to Cala Gonone via the mountain pass of Littu.

A dive accompanied by brown meagres, tunas and amberjacks to the wreck of the German cargo ship KT12, which can be visited inside and outside.

The prow of the wreck of the KT 12, which was torpedoed in 1943. Among its steel sheets you may discover moray eels, European congers, slipper lobsters, small groupers and shoals of damsel fishes.

Off the coast of Cala Luna, among the rocks covered with sponges and white gorgonians, there is a world inhabited by shoals of brown meagres, seabreams and big groupers.

A tunnel that is covered with sea daisies, corals and coloured sponges.

You can explore the underwater length of the Sea Ox Cave for the first 100/150 metres and you have the possibility of swimming among stalactites and stalagmites and discovering the fossilized oysters that cover the walls.

Discovering cave fishes amidst shoals of damsel fishes. an emerald green paradise among limestone masses.

Il porto di Cala Gonone è protetto a Levante da un molo di sopraflutto a gomito, banchinato all’interno. Il molo di sottoflutto è banchinato, come il piazzale.

All’esterno dell’ambito portuale uno specchio acqueo consente l’ormeggio di piccoli natanti nel periodo estivo.

PERICOLI: i venti da est-sud-est provocano forti risacche; è pericoloso entrare e sostare con venti dal IV quadrante.

ACCESSO: senza limitazioni di orario, ma è opportuno raggiungere il porto quando ancora c’è luce. Le imbarcazioni in entrata e in uscita devono mantenersi al centro del canale e non superare la velocità di 3 nodi; le imbarcazioni a vela devono navigare a motore mantenendo le vele ammainate.

FARI E FANALI: 1232 (E 1031) - fanale a luce fissa verde, 3M sulla testata del molo di sopraflutto; 1232.2 - fanale a luce fissa rossa, 3M sulla testata del molo di sottoflutto (N.B. consultare l’Elenco fari e segnali da nebbia per aggiornamenti e variazioni.)

L’area compresa entro i limiti delle coordinate che vanno da 40°04,06 N - 09°44’,00 E a 40°14’,00 N - 09°37’,30 E è stata dichiarata zona di tutela biologica con divieto in ogni tempo di qualsiasi attività di pesca sia professionale sia sportiva.

Attenzione al divieto di navigazione a motore entro un raggio di 295 m da Punta Goloritzè, dichiarata monumento naturale con D.A.R. 2 dicembre 1993, n. 3112.
